Apple is preparing to release its upcoming iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025, continuing its annual launch tradition. The latest series will include four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Industry sources confirm that the “Plus” model has been retired due to low demand, making room for the newly added “Air” variant.
The Pro versions of the iPhone 17 series are expected to feature redesigned chassis. Reports suggest a possible switch from titanium to aluminum frames. Instead of the square-shaped camera island seen in earlier models, Apple may implement a rectangular camera setup integrated into a hybrid glass-aluminum rear casing. Although early renders indicate this transition, some analysts suggest Apple may retain a uniform material design for consistency across the Pro devices.
Significant imaging improvements are anticipated for the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro may feature a 48 MP periscope telephoto sensor, a step up from the 12 MP version used in the iPhone 16 Pro, allowing up to 10x optical zoom. Enhanced low-light performance is also expected. The selfie camera across all iPhone 17 models could receive a resolution upgrade from 12 MP to 24 MP. In addition, 8K video capture may debut on the Pro variants, marking a first in the iPhone series.
The iPhone 17 Pro is likely to be powered by Apple’s forthcoming A19 Pro processor, developed with a 3-nanometer fabrication process. This shift aims to deliver higher processing speeds and improved power efficiency. A RAM boost to 12GB is also expected, which may enhance multitasking capabilities and enable advanced AI functionalities across supported apps and system functions.
Pricing for the iPhone 17 series is projected to start at ₹89,900 in India. The premium iPhone 17 Pro Max may reach up to Rs 1,64,900. In the United States, the base iPhone 17 is estimated to launch at approximately $899. In Dubai, the starting price for the lineup is expected to be around AED 3,799.
Apple is anticipated to reveal the iPhone 17 lineup in September, consistent with previous years. The series will include the base iPhone 17, the performance-focused iPhone 17 Pro, the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the newly introduced iPhone 17 Air. An official launch date is yet to be disclosed by the company.
